Welcome! I am Olena Kosheva, an artist originally from Ukraine. Two years ago I came to the UK. I'm really glad to be in Wirral, where there is such a large and developed arts community. Watercolour is my great love, but I also work in other techniques like oil and acrylic, and even markers. For many years I have been trying to find my own style. But I only realised that I’m interested in everything!
If you asked me to describe my work in one word, I would say “Delicious”. I love painting and good food! In both, you follow the recipe, keep the end result in your mind , change instruments one by one and endlessly improvise. Isn't this pure pleasure! The incredible love of the British for their pets and homes delight me! All these bulldogs, poodles, lapdogs, spaniels - they are so good for watercolour portraits! I see character and temperament in every animal.
And of course all those little gardens, the absolutely beautiful doors and stained glass windows, all the tiny details and nameplates - a unique portrait of a house can be a wonderful gift for you and your friends. And I promise that I won’t even forget about your granddaughter’s rubber boots near the front door!
Is watercolour difficult? I won't lie to you - this is a technique that requires attention. He's like a child - you just have to turn away and there's already sand or a dog's ear in his mouth! You are always trying to control him, hold his hand - but he runs, jumps and teases you! Ha ha ha!
